He is currently the Director General of Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration in Ahmedabad and the Joint President of Strategic Planning at Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited.

G. Subba Rao is a retired IAS officer and an Indian author. He was also appointed as the Chairman of Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission from 2003 to 2008. Rao has also worked as the Chief Secretary for the Government of Gujarat.
